The Blue Peter Bikeathon was held on Sunday 4th May.
The event was started by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor David Ascroft.
The weather was sunny, a first for our Blue Peter Bikeathons.
Approximately 250 children rode the route along the seafront. Many thanks to the Southend-on-Sea Borough Council for allowing the event to take place, providing the men to cone off the road and reroute the traffic.
Many thanks also to the many volunteers who helped on the day to allow the event to take place, especially the 1312 Squadron of the ATC, the Police and St.John Ambulance.
Special thanks to Estuary FM for providing music, interviews and entertaining everyone.
The children enjoyed the event as did the Mum's and Dad's that rode. The event started at 11am and finished at 1pm.
We hope to beat the total of £5,000, which was raised in 2002.
